EXTRA DOLLARS AND EXTRA ACTION THIS SATURDAY NIGHT AT CENTRAL ARIZONA RACEWAY
With the help of Whitfield Auto Service, the Pure Stocks will be battling for a $600 payday Saturday Night at Central Arizona Raceway. The IMCA Modifieds will also return to the Speedway along with the Super Stocks and X-Mods. Also, the Renegades will be racing for a $250 paycheck. With the increased purses, more cars are expected and will provide great racing action at the Speedway. To end the night, the ladies will be battiling for the Powder Puff races!
The Pure Stock season standings have Ty Weidner in his #z28 Camaro up front, by 13 points over Ryan Eaden. Terry Churchwell, who took a popular win last race currently, sits third in the points over Trevor Hidalgo and Bo Partain. The extra money should bring some extra cars to do battle including Anthony Madrid, Matt Martinez, Danny Curry, and female star Kelsie Foley.
The IMCA Modified standings have shuffled and rookie Cody Graham is on top by 16 points over Jason Noll. Both of the drivers have elected to run the newly-approved IMCA Crate Motor, which gives them a small spoiler, and a small weight advantage. Ricky Thornton Jr, sits third and has also gone to the crate motor. Local racer Mark Harrison is in fourth and another crate motor Eric Center sits in fifth. Tucson star, RC Whitwell powered his way to the front last race and took the checkered flag. Whitwell should be returning to the speedway along with local drivers Brian Schultz, Brad Whitfield, and Shelby Frye.
The Super Stocks return to the Speedway Saturday night and will bring point leader Dave Kelley and the rest of the Kelley family with him. Dave leads Mike Brigner by 8 points, then comes Eric Kelley and Allen Kelley. Marshall Miles sits in fifth in the standings. Klay Colclasure claimed the win the last time the Super Stocks came to play at the Speedway.
AJ Huebner wanted to give the X-Mod driver a chance to beat him last race, as he spun in the early stages, restarted last and passed everyone to take the win. Huebner now owns a 21-point lead over Trevor Miller. Chris Caldwell, Gerry Glenn and Jinger Kesler round out the top five.
The Renegades will be racing for extra cash while Don Berner and Richard Bennett will be racing for valuable points as they are currently tied for the points lead. Harry Fowler sits third over Josh Monday and Justin Harrah. Ben Soboski took a car from the junkyard to winners circle last race. With the extra money, the Station Wagons could make another appearance. To top it off, the Renegades will be doing the Co-Pilot challenge, where the drivers will be throwing stuff to the kids, and if the driver wins, the child who catches that drivers signed item will win too!
Also for the first time since 2008, Central Arizona Raceway will be hosting Powder Puff races. Female drivers will be strapping into Pure Stocks and Renegades and battling it out on the track. Michelle Ashcraft, one of the fastest ladies to ever make rounds at the Speedway, will be watching over as her daughter Erin Harrison and others battle it out to see who the fastest female driver is!
General admission tickets will go on sale at 4:00 pm and the raceway encourages fans to show up early to get the best seats!
